FIRST BATCH

Put the first batch of yearling colts out today they are by: Its Gino, Gris de Gris, Karaktar & No Risk at All. They are all a good size. Always loved the Stallion « No Risk At All » and he is now such a force to be reckon with. Another Stallion Frank & I really like is Karaktar who we think will be a big success. Next batch of colts hopefully go out tomorrow, & the last batch on Tuesday, weather permitting.

LOCK DOWN

The lock down has started over here in France with no movement of Broodmares or other horses unless it is an emergency. Fortunately we managed to take another 3 mares off to stud on Sunday & Monday morning. Countless forms to fill in if you want to go to the nearest shop or Pharmacy, not quite such a rush on loo rolls round here, still do not get that one. Pasta & rice in abundance. There does not seem to be any dog food left on the shelves which is a bit of a worry, but no one has bought any pate!!!! Trains have stopped running but no one noticed as they have been striking for months.

SAO MAXENCE

SAO MAXENCE won the first at Carlisle today. We bought him as a foal & his Mother Primadona as well. We sold him to Mr & Mrs Dodd as a 3 year old. George would have been delighted with this result today, we all felt that Sao Maxence had a lot of ability.

We would like to thank everyone for all you love, support, kindness, help & letters in this terribly sad time. If only George could have read them, things would have been different. There is so much good in this world, and people really care.

THANK YOU CUT THE MUSTARD

Cut the Mustard brought a ray of sunshine to me, Frank & Rufus today after hacking up in the Listed mares chase at Naas.

George, who was my husband for nearly 36 yrs & who was father to Frank & Rufus, took his own life in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

I know he loved us all so much, but could not come to terms with this dreadful disease, which was depression, that had plagued him on & off most of his life. He could not understand that it is not a stigma but an illness.

If anyone reads this & feels low or sad, or you know someone who has gone very quite, please talk to someone or you talk to them.

I, Lune, George’s wife, will not let this horrific disease win & we will be carrying on with the stud as usual.

GOOD RESULT

The result of the Grade 2 Mares Novice Chase at Thurles today was a good one for us. CUT THE MUSTARD who finished 2nd was bred by us, and has now got some well deserved black type. She might be better dropped back to 2 miles. The winner, ELIMAY, is the granddaughter of one of our mares Ryde who is also the grandmother of GOSHEN, who won yesterday at Ascot.

FIRST FOAL OF THE YEAR

Our first foal was born on the 9th of January. He is a very big good looking Colt by WALK IN THE PARK out of INNOVATE, her first foal, who won three races for us including the big handicap at Compiegne. INNOVATE’S half brother, THÉNAC, won on his debut recently at PAU and her niece ELIMAY & nephew GOSHEN are doing very well.
