SAO MAXENCE

SAO MAXENCE won the first at Carlisle today. We bought him as a foal & his Mother Primadona as well. We sold him to Mr & Mrs Dodd as a 3 year old. George would have been delighted with this result today, we all felt that Sao Maxence had a lot of ability.

We would like to thank everyone for all you love, support, kindness, help & letters in this terribly sad time. If only George could have read them, things would have been different. There is so much good in this world, and people really care.

THANK YOU CUT THE MUSTARD

Cut the Mustard brought a ray of sunshine to me, Frank & Rufus today after hacking up in the Listed mares chase at Naas.

George, who was my husband for nearly 36 yrs & who was father to Frank & Rufus, took his own life in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

I know he loved us all so much, but could not come to terms with this dreadful disease, which was depression, that had plagued him on & off most of his life. He could not understand that it is not a stigma but an illness.

If anyone reads this & feels low or sad, or you know someone who has gone very quite, please talk to someone or you talk to them.

I, Lune, George’s wife, will not let this horrific disease win & we will be carrying on with the stud as usual.

GOOD RESULT

The result of the Grade 2 Mares Novice Chase at Thurles today was a good one for us. CUT THE MUSTARD who finished 2nd was bred by us, and has now got some well deserved black type. She might be better dropped back to 2 miles. The winner, ELIMAY, is the granddaughter of one of our mares Ryde who is also the grandmother of GOSHEN, who won yesterday at Ascot.

FIRST FOAL OF THE YEAR

Our first foal was born on the 9th of January. He is a very big good looking Colt by WALK IN THE PARK out of INNOVATE, her first foal, who won three races for us including the big handicap at Compiegne. INNOVATE’S half brother, THÉNAC, won on his debut recently at PAU and her niece ELIMAY & nephew GOSHEN are doing very well.

THÉNAC

Thénac made a very impressive debut today at PAU, in winning the 3 year old hurdle race. It is even more remarkable that he could win on his race course debut as he was a very late foal & he is already over 17hh.

He was always a fantastic looking youngster, he won his class at the Chaser Day Show as a two year old before we sold him to Paul Basquin & Guilliaume Macaire.

He is by Walk in the Park and out of Ryde, she is the grandmother of Elimay & Goshen one of the leading fancies for the Triumph Hurdle.
