VERNI

It was great to see Verni get off the mark at Uttoxeter this afternoon over the bigger obstacles In spite of being hampered a couple of times. He appreciated the better ground & was given a great ride by Richard Johnson.

INNOVATE

We had a very good day at Compiègne today. Our homebred mare, Innovate, won the big handicap chase (100k euros added) by coincidence her mother gave birth to a lovely big filly by Gris de Gris yesterday morning. It was only her fourth outing in a steeple chase two of which she has won. We are hoping she will maintain the improvement especially when she runs over a longer distance. Her 3 year old half sister by Walk in the Park is entered at Goffs UK Spring Stores sales.

Also on the card at Compiègne today, CONFUCEEN got off the mark impressively, he looks as though he has a big future ahead of him. We also have his 3 year old 1/2 brother by Kapgarde going to Goffs UK as well.

MUSTARD CUTS IT AT PUNCHESTOWN

Our homebred mare CUT THE MUSTARD won the second race at Punchestown today.

She won two bumpers in France for us last season, before being sold to Ireland. She disappointed in her first two runs over hurdles, mainly due to very poor jumping. Her jumping showed some improvement today, so she should be able to go on from here. This is her winning the Finale du challenge AQPS at Nantes (photo)

GOOD DAY AT THE OFFICE

Dali Mail, sold by us as a yearling, hacked up in the bumper at Kelso, by a very wide margin today, we also sold his 1/2 brother, Chez Castel Mail, who also won his bumper. We have another very nice 2 year old 1/2 brother to him by Sinndar.

By coincidence, another horse we sold as a yearling who went over on the same lorry as Dali Mail, called Dlauro was sold today for €410,000 euros to Joseph O’Brien. Dlauro topped the sale & with the second highest price ever achieved for a point to pointer.

Two places

Two of our ex “pupils” ran yesterday, both running excellent races by getting placed.

SAINTE LADYLIME was second at Ascot in the GRADE 2 mare’s race. Although never threatening to win she would have finished a great deal closer to the winner if she had jumped fluently. She lost many lengths but unfortunately this has been a reoccurring theme in all of her races.

CUNEO ran a very good race to finish third in the second race at Navan for Henry De Bromhead & Gigginstown Stud. It was only his second start & he showed marked improvement on his first run &  galloped on stoutly in the difficult conditions. He should make his mark in the future over fences, which he is bred to do being by KAPGARDE out of a mare from a good AQPS family.
